Introduction – Principles of Professional Practice
Pro Comfort Counselling operates within a clear, structured, and professionally accountable framework.
The services are provided on the basis of the following core principles:
- mutual respect
- professional responsibility
- confidentiality
- contractual clarity
- financial and organisational stability
- protection of the client's best interests
This document sets out the formal framework governing the professional relationship, including the respective rights, responsibilities, and limits of both parties.
Its purpose is to ensure transparency, consistency, and legal clarity for both the client and Pro Comfort Counselling.
1. Identity and Scope of Application
These Terms govern the use of the website and access to the psychological counselling services offered by Pro Comfort Counselling, operated by Marian Claudiu Ciuhan, MBPsS.
By booking a session, the client acknowledges and accepts these Terms in full.
2. Nature of the Services
Pro Comfort Counselling provides psychological counselling services delivered:
- in private practice
- online, via secure video platforms
The services:
- do not constitute medical treatment
- do not include psychiatric diagnosis
- do not include the prescription of medication
- do not constitute emergency or crisis intervention
3. Structure of the Therapeutic Process
The standard duration of a session is 60 minutes.
By exception, the first session may last up to 90 minutes, depending on the nature of the intervention and the individual needs of the client.
The therapeutic process begins with an initial framework of a minimum of 4 sessions, intended to support assessment and the establishment of an appropriate direction of intervention.
Any continuation of the professional relationship is determined thereafter by mutual agreement.
4. Appointments and Payments
4.1 Appointment confirmation
A 50% deposit of the session fee is required in order to confirm an appointment and must be paid at least 48 hours in advance.
An appointment is considered confirmed only once payment has been received and acknowledged.
4.2 Cancellation policy
Where a cancellation is made with less than 24 hours' notice, the deposit is non-refundable.
Where notice of at least 24 hours is given, the session may be rescheduled and the deposit transferred to the new appointment date.
Payments are non-transferable to another person.
4.3 Extended sessions
Any extension beyond the standard session duration of 60 minutes is available only by prior agreement.
Sessions exceeding 60 minutes may incur an additional fee, communicated in advance.
5. Conduct of Sessions
The client is responsible for:
- providing accurate and relevant information
- attending scheduled appointments as agreed
- maintaining appropriate conduct throughout the professional relationship
- attending online sessions from a private and suitable environment
Pro Comfort Counselling shall not be responsible for technical disruptions caused by external systems or circumstances beyond its control.
The recording of sessions, including screen recording and audio or video capture, is strictly prohibited without prior written consent.
6. Protection of Minors
For clients under the age of 18, written consent from a parent or legal guardian is required.
The best interests of the minor shall take precedence at all times.
Pro Comfort Counselling may restrict parental access to certain information where disclosure could adversely affect the minor's wellbeing.
Where risk-related concerns arise, the appropriate authorities may be notified in accordance with safeguarding duties and legal obligations.
7. Confidentiality
Information shared within the counselling process is protected in accordance with UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
Confidentiality may be limited only where this is justified by:
- a serious risk of harm
- the protection of a child or vulnerable person
- a legal obligation to disclose information
8. Use of AI and Automations
Pro Comfort Counselling may use automated digital systems for purposes such as:
- bookings
- administrative responses
- generation of standard documents
Such systems do not provide therapeutic intervention and do not replace human clinical assessment or professional judgement.
9. Written Reports and Official Documents
Requests for:
- psychological reports
- official letters
- supporting documents
may be subject to a separate fee, communicated in advance.
The timeframe for preparation shall depend on the complexity of the request.
10. Court-Related Requests (Court Letters)
Pro Comfort Counselling does not ordinarily provide medico-legal assessments or expert reports for court proceedings.
Where documentation is requested for court purposes:
- the request may be accepted or declined
- a separate fee may apply
- additional preparation time may be required
11. Sessions Outside the United Kingdom (Cross-Border Work)
Where the client attends sessions from outside the United Kingdom:
- the client remains responsible for compliance with local laws and regulations
- Pro Comfort Counselling does not guarantee recognition of the service in another jurisdiction
- limitations may apply in relation to crisis response or emergency intervention
12. Inappropriate Behaviour
Pro Comfort Counselling maintains a zero-tolerance approach towards:
- verbal aggression
- threats
- intimidating behaviour
- unjustified pressure or harassment
Services may be suspended or terminated immediately in such circumstances.
13. Acceptance and Refusal of Cases
Pro Comfort Counselling reserves the right to:
- accept or decline requests for services
- discontinue the professional relationship where the service is not suitable or appropriate
- discontinue the professional relationship where the professional framework is not respected
There is no obligation to provide a referral, except where required by law or safeguarding duties.
14. Limitation of Liability
Services are provided with reasonable professional care and diligence.
No particular outcome can be guaranteed.
Liability shall be limited to the fullest extent permitted by law.
15. Force Majeure
Pro Comfort Counselling shall not be held liable for any inability or delay in providing services arising from circumstances beyond its reasonable control.
16. Intellectual Property
All website materials, texts, forms, and related content are legally protected and may not be copied, reproduced, distributed, or reused without prior written permission.
17. Modification of the Terms
These Terms may be updated from time to time in relation to future appointments and future use of the website or services.
18. Jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
